The Season is Upon Us

I love the Christmas season. To start off my blog, I want you to listen/watch the new Christmas song by The Dropkick Murphys (Marshall Serzen and my favorite!)

Well, that video makes me laugh, and rings true in some ways...but anywho this has been a fantastic month. I love December because of the snow, and holiday cheer. At the beginning of the month my Mom and step-dad Ed drove up and we had an early Christmas with them. It was a blast. I love their company and always enjoy when they visit Utah. Great food, great laughs, great memories!  Like last year, I worked Christmas morning and once I got off work I headed with Ronnie Eichelberger up to the mountains to take advantage of our White Christmas. We headed up to Little Cottonwood Canyon to snowshoe up White Pine Canyon, and then snowboarded (I snowbladed) down! This little tradition was a blast, and I hope to do it many more times in the future.

After that exciting afternoon with Ronnie I went to visit my wonderful family. I absolutely love going to my Grandparents/Dads house for Christmas. Nothing like the smell of wontons, stuffed mushrooms, and fresh rolls as I walk through the door. After stuffing my face with delicious food, we all opened presents together. I love my family more than anything! (Although sometimes they may think I put other things first, they are my everything).

We also had the chance to have the Kensington Manor's annual "Classy Christmas" get-together. It was good dressing up and spending time with friends.

It was really a fun December. I also had a chance to bring my country boy part of me out and shoot some guns, hunt, and fish on a few separate occasions with my friends Carson Zollinger, Marshall Serzen and Ronnie Eichelberger. Below are a few pictures. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!! (because I sure did)

Turkey Day!

I started my thanksgiving morning working early in the morning. Then, right when I got off work I hopped in the car with my twin bro and his wife Kim for a little 8 hour road trip to AZ to visit my madre and step-father Ed. Its been almost 8 years since I have had Thanksgiving with my mom. So far so good. The food was delicious (with smoked turkey). Im thankful for family. Im thankful for food. Im thankful for turkey day!

My Xterra vs, Hoyt's Peak

Well, a couple weeks ago I finally gave in and sold my trusted '99 Taurus and upgraded to something that would better fit my lifestyle. I bought a '04 Xterra!! I was very happy with my decision. Today I decided to test my new baby's off road capabilitities. Josh White and I decided to drive up Hoyt's Peak in Kamas. The Xterra handled beautifully, and finally got a well deserved mud coat! We decided to do a little duck hunting and fishing along the way. Beautiful scenery, good conversation, and gnarly off roading! What a great way to spend Thanksgiving Eve...

The Birds vs. The Birds

Well, pheasant season only lasts 3 weeks unfortunately, so every day counts. It was a lot of fun heading up to Corinne County today and spending the day pheasant and duck hunting with my Pops, and brothers Mike and Justin. Although we were crammed into a little truck driving over an hour, the day went well, time was well spent, and good conversation occurred. Today reminded me what it means to be a Bird!

The day with my Pops!

Well, woke up this morning...called my work and told them I was sick...(hopefully my boss isn't reading this)...and then I decided to go hunting and fishing with my dad. We went up to Jeremy Ranch and Kamas area. There was a fresh layer of snow covering all the ground, which made for a nice scenic view, but even better hunting conditions. We jumped plenty of ducks, shot plenty of green heads and even a beautiful wood duck. My brother tagged some geese, and a snipe. I then added to our limit by catching a few fish. Quite the successful day if I do say so myself. Nothing like a beautiful Friday in the great outdoors of Utah. I love my pops!
